Kiln-Fired Glass

My work is kiln-formed glass, created with Bullseye sheet, frit and powdered glass. The pieces are built-up, layer by layer using various techniques to create depth, textures and patterns reminiscent of those found in the natural world. Each piece is then fired in a kiln multiple times to create a finished glass panel that captures my vision. My work represents my abstracted view of the real world processes found in the geology of the earth and the active processes of the sun. The glass panels have both a graphic element and a textural surface. My goal is to capture & freeze this transformation of the glass into an abstraction of the molten to solid process in much the same way rock and molten lava is frozen in time subject to further erosion by the elements.
